Becoming an Associate Chartered Accountant
The special entry pathway to the Associate Chartered
Accountants' College closed on 1 November 2008. Entry is now only
available through meeting the requirements below.
The Associate Chartered Accountant is the Institute’s mid-tier
designation. Associate Chartered Accountants are versatile professionals
who have completed a graduate programme of diverse accounting and
business skills within a structured framework in the tertiary
environment and the workplace.
Associate Chartered Accountants are synonymous with high professional
standards and reliable business advice. They are well positioned within
the profession to work for Chartered Accountants in public practice, as
financial and business analysts and advisors, and in middle management
roles. Similar to all members of the Institute, Associate Chartered
Accountants receive training in and are required to act in a
professional and ethical manner, and to maintain their competence
through ongoing professional development. Associate Chartered
Accountants can progress to the Chartered Accountants’ College on
completion of additional programme requirements.
Admission requirements
The College of Associate Chartered Accountants reopened in November
2006 with new admission requirements. The pathway involves
completion of academic study, practical experience and professional
competence requirements for entry to the Associate Chartered
Accountants’ College.
