Borrowing books, course papers and DVDs

How long can I borrow items for?

Three weeks is the loan period for books, course papers and DVDs.

How do I request items?

You can request an item, including articles, through the catalogue by clicking on the term 'Place Hold'. If it's available, we will send it to you within three working days. Otherwise, it will be reserved for you (see below). You can also contact us directly to request items.

How do I reserve items?

If you request an item through the catalogue that is already out on loan to another member, a reserve will be placed automatically for you. We can also reserve an item for you if you contact us directly.

Can I renew items?

You can renew items online through the library catalogue subject to availability. The process for renewing items online is as follows:

  • log in to the catalogue http://library.nzica.com/
  • click on your name in the top right corner - the items you have checked out will display
  • click on the 'renew' link for the item(s) you’d like to renew
  • check the 'due' column for the new due date.

You can renew items twice.

You can also contact us to request a renewal.

How are items delivered to me?

Books, course papers, and DVDs are sent to you by courier or post.

The postage of items from the Library is free of charge, but you will need to cover the cost of returning them to us.

Items will be sent out within three working days. Please let us know if you require an item more urgently.
