NZICA Canterbury-Westland

NZICA Canterbury-Westland encompasses the region from Greta Valley in the North, through Ashburton and the cities of Christchurch and Timaru, inland to Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Methven, Fairlie, and over to Hokitika, Greymouth and Westport on the West Coast.

NZICA Canterbury-Westland has a diverse membership base of over 2890 members representing the corporate, public, rural, Government and education sectors and public practice. The Canterbury-Westland Leadership teams form the working hub of our area.

The main role for members on these teams is to ensure that our office activities meet the needs of the membership. Members are encouraged to engage with the office and use the service and support that is available through a wide range of events and courses held throughout each year.

Professional development

Approximately 40 professional development courses are held each year in the Canterbury-Westland area. A mix of half-day, full-day and tea-meeting styled events cover a range of fundamental topics, and topics of interest to the business community. The tea meetings provide a great opportunity for members to network with others, whilst half-day courses are designed to keep members up to date and informed in their work.

Special interest groups (SIGs)

SIGs provide targeted, relevant, professional development courses for specific sectors within the profession. Events are held on a regular basis and provide great networking opportunities with like minded members. All SIG meetings qualify for CPD hours.

Subscriptions to Canterbury-Westland SIGs are on an annual basis. If a member or non-member would like to attend just one or two meetings, a non-subscribers fee is available. If a subscriber cannot attend, they are welcome to have someone else attend in their place.

Currently SIG meetings are held in Christchurch, Timaru and Ashburton and include the following groups:

  • Business Systems
  • Insolvency (including information about INSOL NZ)
  • Corporate Sector
  • Mid and South Canterbury
  • Not for Profit
  • Public Practice Networking
  • Taxation
  • Trusts
