Salary expectations for graduates

The information on this page will help give you an indication of what you can expect to earn once you land your first job. We've also provided current market information on what you could earn as you progress up the corporate ladder.

Graduate salary packages will reflect that you have a university degree, but that you are likely to have little or no experience in the role. They'll also take into account the training and support your employer will need to provide you to ensure you're successful in your role.

In most industries, accounting included, you'll find graduate roles attract a very similar salary level. It's worth while researching to make sure your expectations are accurate and that you have an idea of your market worth as an employee. There are many websites offering up-to-date salary surveys to get you started.

A hint for the recruitment process: don't introduce the topic of salary or remuneration during your employment interview, but be prepared to talk it through if you are asked.

The following table provides an idea of current salaries. Note that salary figures can vary according to factors such as company size, geographical location and economy.
