New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants

Becoming a Member

The Institute offers you the choice of three designations:

Chartered Accountant
Associate Chartered Accountant
Accounting Technician

The booklet Becoming a Member explains the education and training required to gain and maintain membership of the Institute with either the Accounting Technician, Associate Chartered Accountant or Chartered Accountant designations. Whether you are a New Zealand student, graduate, or you already hold overseas qualifications, the Becoming a Member booklet will help you identify the steps needed to become a member of the Institute.

Global Accounting Alliance membership
Representing over 700,000 of the world’s leading professional accountants, the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) has been formed to promote quality professional services, global membership support, share information, and collaborate on important international issues. One of the key objectives of the GAA is to provide local support to members wherever they are in the world. Through the GAA, your institute membership is now a global passport that can access reciprocal benefits from nine international member organisations.
