Profile of the Institute

The New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants represents over 30,000 members in New Zealand and more than 90 other countries. The Institute acts in the public interest through regulating the profession, developing financial reporting standards and promoting quality, integrity and expertise.


During the 2007/2008 financial year the Institute

  • made a submission to government every week, on average.
  • held more than 290 special interest group meetings at branch level, plus a wide range of other local opportunities, including professional development, liaison meetings with key government agencies (particularly Inland Revenue and ACC) and networking events.
  • spent approximately 7371 hours reviewing the operations of 567 different accounting practices that offer services to the public.
  • supplied 6,466 print and electronic resources through its library resources.

 

The Institute has branches in 15 locations in New Zealand, and in London, Sydney and Melbourne. Members of the Institute can also access services from the Institute's nine Global Accounting Alliance Partners.
