Advanced Business Education Limited (ABEL)

 

Advanced Business Education Limited (ABEL) is a company wholly owned by the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants (the Institute).

 

The principal purpose of ABEL is to develop and provide through contracted delivery, the programmes and assessments required to be successfully completed by those persons who (after completion of tertiary qualifications and applicable professional work experience), seek to be admitted as members of the Institute. The programmes and assessments are collectively titled 'The Professional Competence Programme' and comprise the Foundations Programme and Professional Accounting School/Professional Competence Examination (PAS/PCE)

 

The ABEL business model is one of an autonomous operation with its own Board of Directors and a small full time management team using a significant number of external experts as contractors who provide services covering activities such as:

 

  • Programme material development
  • Case study and workshop activity development
  • Examination setting
  • Assessment and examination marking
  • Workshop facilitation

 

In addition to the Board of Directors and management team, ABEL also has an Academic Board which is charge with maintaining and enhancing the academic quality and rigour of the Professional Competence Programme.
